Drobo
This week I received my Drobo. It provides no headache data redundancy. It just keeps your data safe and is easy enough for my mother to operate.
The safe, expandable Droboâ„¢ storage solution protects your data against a hard drive crash, yet can expand dynamically at any time in just seconds. With nothing to configure or manage, Drobo is now the ideal solution for primary storage as well as backup.
The reason I chose for Drobo is that the price was low compared to raid solutions that are available. I can access it as 1 disk drive instead of 4 drives and can be plugged in into any computer.
Furthermore it has only 2 cables for 4 hard drives which helped me getting rid of the cable clutter that I had.
Drobo takes a while to initialize for the first time but I could already start adding data to it.

I also like the fact that Drobo shuts down all its lights and noises when I turn my computer to sleep. My computer is in the bedroom and now I don’t have any annoying noises or lights bugging me when I go to sleep.
I inserted 4 of my 500GB disks and it uses no more then a raid 5 setup.
Inserting was a breeze, it’s not as smooth as inserting a floppy but the experience is the same.

I’m glad I finally bought a solution like this. The only drawback for me is that they don’t offer a version with 6 disk places. Now I have 2 spare disks. But Drobo offers easy growing of my storage so I have nothing to fear for now.

I finally updated my module again.
I’ve applied the patch that enables timeago in comments and I’ve created a stable release.
A Drupal 6 version is on its way.
